I partnered with Amazon, a multi-billion-dollar company, which matched our drive with 3,600 essential items and 50 fully stocked backpacks. The estimated value of all donations easily exceeded $10,000. This level of corporate support turned a local effort into a county-wide impact and showed that even a teenager can work with a global company to help kids.
Teachers, students from multiple schools, elected officials, appointed officials, judges, parents, and neighbors all donated. Everyone pitched in. Bringing together such a diverse group showed that one clear vision can create a massive, coordinated effort.
FOX 5 Atlanta, Yahoo, WSB-TV, the Gwinnett Daily Post, Eye on Gwinnett, the Conversations with Ku podcast, and more all covered the fundraiser. These stories reached thousands of people, inspiring more donations, more volunteers, and even more students to start their own drives.
“This is what leadership looks like...Nehemiah’s story shows that it doesn’t matter how old you are, you can still be a force for good in your community. And what a beautiful example of public, private and personal sectors working together to uplift others.”
“Seeing a young person take initiative and give back in such a selfless way moved all of us...Nehemiah reminded us that big change can start with one small act. Amazon is proud to be part of honoring that.”
"They’re being seen and that matters...Nehemiah’s heart and Amazon’s generosity will touch so many lives.”
Nehemiah Hamilton is a standout from the Gwinnett Youth Commission and the SMILE program, who recently launched a powerful fundraiser to help those in need...He's a young changemaker using his voice and platform for good, and I'm excited to talk with him about what sparked his journey and what's next.
"Nehemiah Hamilton is the future in leadership in Gwinnett County. He is an amazing young man."
